First of all, 4 dates in is still not that far in, especially if you haven't banged.

Second, there is no reason to text throughout the day. You can just talk on your dates. You have no obligation to be her chat buddy all day, especially if you're only casually dating. If she texts you, say something nice and/or funny, and then let her know you're busy. Because, y'know, you should have other shit to do all day than text.

Unfortunately, I can't answer. But I'm also curious. Because I'm one of those guys that really enjoys texting people for the mental stimulation while I'm at work. At what point is texting a lot acceptable?

People have said a lot of things right now. I think /u/bl1y makes the best point. But there are other things to consider. If you two start dating then it is appropriate to text all day. But until you can officially call yourself that hold back. Since this isn't the first date and you know her a bit make sure to say hey how's it going every couple of days to see how she is and show your interest still. Just keep it to a minimum until a firm connection can be set up.

I'll text when I have time and feel like it. I'll chat with her as long as i'm enjoying the company, when I have something to do I'll tell her so and stop texting. Just do what you feel like without clinging onto her all day.

Can you please elaborate on your success with text game?

e.g. Content of when, where, how specific a date and time. Do you throw out a general date far in advance, then go in for a more specific time later on? Etc.

Texting too much/all day is never acceptable unless you are in a LTR. Even still, if you will be seeing her in a day or two keep it brief. Touch base, see how her day is going, then proceed with your day. Why? Easy...if you are too available, then simply put, you are too available. Never be too available to her. Have your own BUSY life. In conclusion, the frequency of texts should not change but the response times should be shortened. Disclaimer: Personal opinion and experience.
