I actually prefer in person because I like to read body language and play off of that. I can see how the phone could be easier because it's less personal though.

I remember discussing this in an interpersonal communications course I took a few semesters ago. IIRC, it has to do with the 'anonymity' of the communication.

The person you are speaking to cannot see your facial expressions, nor can you see theirs. This communicative blindness encourages bold behavior one may not normally exude.

Additionally, if you say something embarrassing or silly, you can simply hang up the phone or not text back with any number of excuses as to why you didn't respond.

I used to do something similar to this, but I decided to nut up, stop giving a fuck, and start speaking my mind at all times. If you can flirt with a girl through text but not in person, you won't ever actually get anywhere.

Well phone-flirting is inherently worse because you can't see her body language and she can't see yours. So there's 2 possible reasons you think its easier.

You think you're getting somewhere, but you're not.
You have poor body language/are unconfident in your looks.

Communication is 55% body language, so you're not really really flirting if you're just doing it over the phone. If its because of your looks, work out and eat carb+protein diet, that's a simple way to improve your looks.

Of course it's easier to use your phone to communicate. You get to decide what you want to say before you say it, which you don't get in face to face conversation.

DO NOT RELY ON YOUR PHONE.

Read any of the posts for beginners and they will go on in detail about how your phone should only be used for locking down plans. The gist is that too much texting can lead to lack of actual conversation skills in person. You get used to being able to think things through, and not being witty on the fly. Plus, you can't read body language, which is a huge part of being a good conversationalist. Even for friends, get used to talking in person, or calling rather than texting. Friends maybe not SO much, but with potential interests ABSOLUTELY.

It absolutely is. When you're in person, you are focusing on looking attractive-smiling at the right times, showing your best side, giving that look, etc. When you're on the phone, you can completely focus on the conversation.

That being said, that only goes for conversation flirting. A LOT of flirting can be done without words.

It's not like that for most; but I would say it depends on age and race. I tend to find that people who are younger than me (27) are more comfortable texting and getting pic swaps.

You are part of a the tech generation that is not finding out why it is harder to be in personal contact. Why? Because with everything being digital with FB, texts, etc, you lack the ability to read social cues given with body language.

I can't even understand how you could even flirt on the phone. You think flirting is verbal? No, it's not, it's probably 9 - 1 with body language to verbal.

You all need to start learning how to read body language it's the most important thing not only in this game, but in general life. You need it in every aspect.

Meeting friends, business, women, at the bus stop, restaurants, just about any human engagement.
