It could be a few different things. First of all, as the other guy said, you're dressed to impress (probably). Second of all, you're meeting up with a woman, you may be in more of a "fuck yeah, I'm the man"-mindset than usually, there may be some testosterone thing going, you may be feeling horny, manly and all those things that are invisible but noticeable.

I think you should still open the beautiful girls. Especially if you are the super social meeting people anywhere-type. Just strike her up and tell her you're waiting for a date, then if she's in a hurry you could do some: "how do I look"-thing or whatever, or if she doesn't seem to be in a hurry you could casually strike up conversation to kill time.

And then you go home and have a threesome (loljkunlessyoucanpullitoff)

Approach her anyway. If your date walks in on you talking with another girl it can only make her more attracted to you. Same if the girl you're approaching sees you on the date later.

It's because you're confident at that moment. You're waiting for your date, a super cute chick to meet you, and you feel good. You dressed well, put on fresh socks and you probably even brushed your teeth. You feel great and this radiates off of you; people can see it. Of course that chick's gonna smile.
