Time for a less controversial post after my RSD one...
I've learned recently that once you get good at seduction, self-improvement, pickup, and the like and you start seeing real results, you will face some haters. People will try to bring you down. Some don't like seeing you succeed.
An example is my roommate. He's a good guy who I like, but I've noticed he has subtly tried to bring me down to his level sometimes. He just got out of a very unhealthy relationship that he's still trying to move on from. I've tried to help him out but there's only so much he can do.
This past weekend, he confronted me and my friend (while he was drunk) about what we do.
"You should stop trying to pick up girls when you're out at bars. They aren't girlfriend material." I don't care, we're just having fun and meeting girls. I'm not trying to find a soulmate.
"What you guys do is weird. You shouldn't be out on the prowl all the time. You should meet girls through friends." That's reactive, not proactive.
"Don't approach girls all the time. When you're out wait for them to come to you. They always do when you don't show interest." No they do not.
(Yes he actually said this one) "Stop trying to fuck girls. Go jack off and wait for the right one to show up." Let me know how that works out for you.
Genuinely terrible advice. Terrible. I followed his methods for years and got absolutely nowhere. I argued with him for a bit but in hindsight I should have just ignored him because it was obvious he didn't like seeing my success while he was stuck being hung up over a girl who wasn't right for him.
This wasn't the first time he did this and probably won't be the last, but I must confess, seddit, that I sometimes let this kind of negativity get to me even thought I know I shouldn't.
There are several types of negativity. ALL of it can hurt your game. No girl likes being around a whiner which is why this community is big on being positive and upbeat.
There's general bitterness (TRP is full of stuff like this):
"Man, fuck that bitch. She sucks."
"I hate how all women do _____."
"I can't believe that girl doesn't see me for who I am. I guess she'll always go for the assholes."
But then there's also other forms of negativity that can hurt your game. And it doesn't even have to relate to women.
"That girl over there is so fat and ugly."
"This bar is full of douchebags."
"My friends are so annoying."
Negative thoughts are poison. When you're constantly thinking negatively, no matter what the thoughts are, your mind will want to continue down this negative loop where it's spitting downer thoughts at you left and right. You MUST learn to shut out these negative thoughts.
One thing I've done lately is say "STOP!!!" anytime a negative thought pops up into my head (no you don't have to literally say it out loud)
"Ugh this bartender fucking su-STOP!!!!"
Chances are, whatever you aren't happy about is something minor and insignificant. If it's bigger, then you should probably take a break from game until you get it sorted out.
But this post wasn't meant to just be advice. I admit that, at times, I get stuck in this negative loop and have trouble getting out. My roommate situation is the latest example. I admit I started thinking thoughts like "Maybe he's right... this is a little weird." and it actually hurt my confidence for a second. My friend told me to leave the room any time that happens again.
So, seddit, I'm interested in hearing how you guys deal with negativity. Both from yourself and from others.
TL;DR: Let's help each other develop positive habits and destroy negative ones.
