Small introverted evening classes like Yoga or Art (or anything you're into) are great easy places to meet the lovely kind of women you're after. Lots of women go to clubs to actually find boyfriends, like you. And If you're bold enough, Coffee shops are also fantastic for meeting people. Good rule of thumb is: If you're cool with meeting a stranger, she'll be cool with meeting a stranger!

Coffee shops are a pretty good place. I remember bringing my laptop and a shit ton of papers (writing my MSc dissertation) and just posted up for a few hours. Girls would usually sit down beside/near me. I find if you are deep in thought or feveriously typing away a lot of girls would always ask me what I am working on. BOOM. There you go you just stuck up a conversation and you did work at the same time.

You also have a common thread, you are both at a coffee shop. Start to tell her what youre doing but quickly switch the conversation to why she is there, does she go to school in your town etc...

I've struck up numerous conversation, lately it was a girl who was training to become a police officer, which was super interesting, we talked for at least an hour about the whole procedure. I never went for her number because I was pursuing other leads at the time (and she wasnt that hot). But hey it was something and I got to practice my game.

This may not help if you're not a fan of the bars. But if you do go out, just get a water with some ice. Hold the glass. It honestly makes you look more social having a drink in your hand.

In the event a girls asks what you're drinking, just say its only water because you're DD, or whatever reason.

Swing dance classes. Very big with the hipster/art scene right now. 25/5 woman/man ratio. If youre a guy youre a lead. The leads stand in one place, the girls rotate around to dance with new leads. Its like speed dating. Genius. Dont worry if you suck, its everyone's first time and the chicks are already having a blast being there.

One French PUA taught school I learned a lot from always advises to meet women in places you like and feel most at ease, where you would have a good time being there by yourself, where you know the owner or at least some of the staff, etc. Not only the girls there would have a passion in common with you, but you will naturally be more confident (hence attractive) because you are in your "environment".

If you live in a big city, OkCupid is a wonderful avenue for dating. I've met tons of women off there, most of whom are very attractive. It takes a bit of energy on your part but the payoff is so worth it.

Find someone you get along with who already goes out for pickup and see if you can come along. Maybe a coworker or some other friend. Be ready to approach though, so the guys will keep inviting you out.

Bars are common spots and you may have to go anyway. Drink or don't, just don't make a big deal out of it. Still, it might not be a bad idea to develop some working knowledge of liquor and beer. That's just one of the realities of 20-something socialization. You may have a very serious reason to abstain, but if not, can it hurt?

Beyond that, maybe try something like meetup.com and see if there's any groups in your area doing what you like. It's low pressure because no one knows anybody and you might make some friends in the process.

I might get downvoted for this but I suggest getting new friends who enjoy the nightlife. You can still have your old friends but I'm at the understanding they are just like you being introverted and whatnot.

Anywhere... What do you enjoy doing? Join a meetup. I work, in perhaps, the most gender-segregated subsection of my industry, and I have found several girlfriends without (too much) hassle.

I'm a introvert too dude. Though I'm a few years older and went through it myself. Basically just try having small talk to people, like cashiers. It helps build your confidence and allows you to get better at conversations. After the shyness, I also had to learn how to do small talk and that, it didn't come naturally. Baby steps.
