[Shitpost] Why don't people like /r/seduction?

If this post attracts trolls, expect it to be taken down, but for now, I'll answer this one.

Basically, people unfortunately equate a few negative stereotypes with the idea of "Seduction" and /r/seduction:

Guys who try too hard.
Guys who are socially awkward because they think they need absolute control over a social interaction.
Awkward guys who run run routines like robots.

In some ways, the public perception is somewhere between thinking that people who learn "pickup" are slimy.....and that they're clueless like the guys from A Night at the Roxbury.

And obviously it doesn't help that there have been a few debacles like shooters claiming that they frequent PUA websites and forums, or that business with the RSD instructor who posted a video of himself being rather obnoxious and over the top with Japanese girls, and an Asian American blogger wrote a post about it that went viral and resulted in that RSD instructor having to publicly apologize......

Again, I'll say that these stereotypes are inaccurate but the general public has little clue that "Seduction" has evolved from when Mystery and his predecessors first broke out and established the stereotype of "pickup artist."

Because of Reddit feminists and the white knights who agree with everything they say. A couple of months back I saw a post in /r/relationships where a guy was asking for advice on how to be more successful with women. Another redditor recommended this subreddit, and even explained that it's mostly about self improvement and not manipulating women into sleeping with you. The post was downvoted into oblivion and some redditors replied to it saying things like "Don't go to that subreddit. It will just teach you how to be creepy."

I think because people are more quick to associate this subreddit with PUAs rather than simple self improvement. IMO the name of the subreddit gives out a douchey "lets get some babes" sorta vibe but it's not really that most of the time. There's a good chunk of just solid advice for people who are antisocial.

Also, I think that people confuse redpill's "be alpha" with seduction's "be confident to show you're alpha"

The way I see it, its because there are some characters in here of questionable moral character.

There's been a few times where a few field reports sounded like rape and stuff.

Not just that, but I think most people associate seduction with typical Pick Up Artists. Maybe its just me, but I don't really see any way to put a good spin on pick up artist.

Seddit, the seduction community in general. There is a percentage or good advice but also a percentage of skeeve. This place is mainly good advice covered in a thin layer of skeeve, mainly the terminology. The terminology seems designed to make something that's healthy into something that at best sound like a cheesy Tony Robins talk but mainly fratty and It's a vestigial bit left over from the cheesier early Mystery stuff. I like this place but I sure as shit wouldn't associate myself with the cringe worth verbage in real life.

Because most people think that guys that want to learn this stuff are ruthless sexual predators.

The reality is that most of the guys learning this are just frustrated nice guys that want women to give them a chance.

My 2 cents is the NAME plays a big deal into the negative stigma. The word seduction by now has such a slimy, overly-cologned essense to it that draws away from the rather high intelligence and earnest improvement that many people on this sub strive for.

They hate things that are "cool", popular", "successful", and attracts attention.
