Reading this as you wrote it, it sounds like you're probably coming off as a creep.

High fives work because they're innocent. Touching the side of a girl's arm sounds unusual, awkward, and forced. Not cool and natural.

Try doing some research. Watch people in bars when they touch. Or watch how actors touch on screen, for that matter. It should be a natural action, fitting to the moment.

You can place your hand on someone's shoulder for a moment as you tell a secret. But leave it there and you're rapey.

You can place your hand on someone's upper arm when greeting them hi or bye, but leave it there and you're rapey.

You can grab their hand or forearm when you're sharing a laugh. But know when to let go.

But don't just reach out and touch a person because you read the word kino online.

Be natural.

It seems you are very new to kino. Kino is a very organic process and should not be timed exactly. It should be something that indicates to you and her where you are in the interaction. That might seem a little confusing but its super important. You are touching to escalate the interaction to the point where she wants to have sex. If you are touching her hands you know you are at the start of the interaction. The steps are quite simple and you CAN make a few mistakes without things falling apart. Richard La Ruina's stealth attraction series is the best I've seen from micro escalation which is a huge advantage have and easy to understand. IMO the one of the top two things I have learned from the community. I highly recommend it. His youtube channel has some clips from it you can check out first for free.

Consider how I view touching girls as an alternative mindset towards kino:

As long as she's comfortable in the moment.. If I have an urge to get closer to her, and touch her, I can do so as I please.

Toss that around in your head. See if that helps simplify things up for you.

It sounds like you've got the hang of kino. I would continue to do what you are doing and practice doing more of it. A high five or a touch on the side of their arm is harmless. You can also shake their hand, or if you are on a date put your arm over their shoulder or around their waist. I would make it to the point where you don't even have to count the number of times you do kino.
