Met a guy, went on a "date." He was with friends out at a bar and encouraged me to join them. It was a fun night. In person, he's really not a terrible conversationalist. He knew lots of people wherever we went, seemed like he was everyone's best friend; he was a social butterfly. He was good at making contact with me, went in for the kiss at the end of the night. But he's not overtly flirtatious, he's treating me essentially like his BFF, just like he treated everyone else he ran into that night. I don't really know that much about him yet, but I think he might be the type of guy who IS everyone's friend- and only their friend. He initiates conversation with me pretty often (text) and really just doesn't have much to say, is not very flirtatious. He seems super nice, we have similar interests... but still nothing to really talk about. It's not awkward... it's just boring.

Should I be prying a little harder to get him to open up a bit? I can't even tell if he's actually interested. If he is- he's doing a poor job of letting me know. Should I back off to get him to step it up a bit? Thoughts?
