Decided that today, I was going to do a few cold approaches in lieu of an article I'm going to write about dating for the school newspaper. I see a cute girl sitting in front of the library. "No biggie" I tell myself "It's just another approach". I went in and did the basic opener "This is gonna sound random, but I thought you were cute and wanted to say hi".

The girl looked at me in bedazzlement; "Really? Oh my goodness, thank you so much!" She went on to explain that she's had a long week because she just broke up with her first boyfriend two days ago and she pretty much was depressed. I [shouldn't have] asked her to coffee despite her breakup, but she said she needed some time to cope with the breakup. She gave me a hug and I went to study.

Whether or not I would've gotten the number I have no idea. But for the first time in awhile, I felt a little emotional afterwards. Maybe it was the common empathy that comes with breaking up with your first girlfriend, and you're both just trying to find your SO without breaking your back.

In either case, this whole experience has strengthened my absolve to keep cold approaching. Even If I get rejected 100% that day, if it makes that one girl's day, it's a victory for me. Thanks for reading!
