It seems that the opinions on online dating venues fall into 2 camps, at least here on Seddit.

Here is the first camp that I will summarize:

  1. Don't waste your time, it's awful. You're going to deal with "low value" women with 4 kids from different men (not PC this time, sorry.) Then you have the liars and cheaters. And worst of all is the attention whores who want you just as a "text buddy" despite claiming otherwise. As well, these women have ridiculously high standards, you have to look great AND take a perfect photo, to have any chance. If that wasn't bad enough, the flake ratio is extremely high. In short: DON'T do it, it's awful, it's pathetic and most experiences (if the girl shows up) are crappy at best.

  2. Hang on a second, man, it's not what you think! It's very possible to meet good women on these sites... and, yes, you can get laid. It's also good for shy men or men with approach anxiety because you can take a step back and meet these women ahead of time. Yes you will need a good photo, but you don't have to look like a celebrity. Social proof will help but it's not required. After the photo, the most important thing is learning how to talk via text and sustain her interest. Don't write it off, man! I've met a lot of women from these sites, and actually had sex with a few of them. Good memories!

I just want to know how many of you believe in the first camp, and how many the second camp?

Now for some "extra" stuff (not required): I've been meaning to ask if online game is worth it for shy guys who can't make themselves approach in public. It's extremely hard for me, personally, to consider the idea of approaching publicly because I've got a shitload of problems, I'm delayed socially, I am not "normal" and won't be a winner, and so who the fuck wants that? I'd only embarrass myself.

At least it's easier to cultivate embellished replies to these questions online, and there's no approach anxiety.
