Let’s be honest: when we text a girl we really like, we check our text message 10 times, we rewrite it, we read it out loud, we wonder if she could misinterpret it… So I’ve always wondered “what girls do before replying to a text. Do they overanalyse it as we do?”
I decided to shine a light on this matter and I started asking all my female friends what happens when they receive a message from a guy. What they usually do? What’s happening there that we’ll never know?
I had a lot of answers to my question and I put together the 7 most common things girls do before clicking on “send”
1. She leaves you hanging
Either if she likes you or not, she won’t reply immediately. In the former case, cause she doesn’t want to look desperate and waiting for your text. In the second one, well, she won’t probably reply at all. Many of the girls I interviewed, they told me that they always read the message immediately but they pretend they didn’t. That’s cause girls constantly check their phones (they chat with their friends, dates, fuck buddies…) so it’s highly unlikely that she didn't check her messages for more than 1 hour.
2. She screenshots the message and send it to her friend group chat
Every girl has a female group chat to talk about guys, and in that group there is no secret at all. A girlfriend showed me once what’s going on in a group like that and trust me, your drunkest men night at the pub in comparison, looks like a boy scout meeting.
Text screenshots are the most common thing in there, followed by comments and possible answers. Yeah, girls have copy writers. Lots of them.
3. She sends the screenshot to her best guy friends
After she had a feedback from her girlfriends, now it’s time to ask her guy friends, that’s what they have male best friends for (you have my sympathy guys…) At the end who better than a guy can interpretate what another guy writes.
If this male friend is secretly in love with the girl (he usually is) you’re in trouble…
4. She prepares the perfect response
After she got all these feedbacks, she summarise everything in a response. She write it (out on the real chat to not showing she’s writing), she read it out loud, she counts the lines (to see if the length is similar to your message), then she erases it and she writes it again.
Yep guys, all the girls I interviewed, they told me that the majority of messages they write are written, erased and written again. They overthink it far more than us.
5. She shows the response to the female chat
She wants all her friends to agree with her message, and this won’t happen fast for sure.
6. She waits some more before sending it
Rule number one of texting is that replying to fast is the best way to look desperate and scare the other person. She knows it and she doesn’t want to look impulsive (even if some time passed from point 1) so she sits there, waiting some more before hitting send.
7. She sends it and get distracted
She finally sends the message and one second after she finds something to keep her mind busy. Different scenarios and possible consequences come up to her mind and the best thing to do is to stop thinking about it. Something girls usually do is to turn their phone over, like they don’t care what happens next.
Well, they actually care. So next time you’ll feel nervous about what to write, you’re not alone there.
Hope this was interesting guys and if you want to get deeper into text messages, I saved some screenshots from a text conversation I had lately with a girl, and I added notes on the side.
You can download it here.
For the rest do you have any girlfriend who told you what happens before they send a message? Or do you have any question about texting? Let’s have a conversation about it!
