I feel ashamed for having "mommy issues". But I have them. I know it is my responsibility to work on them as an adult and I am. But my question is one of shame. I have a hard time accepting that I have these very blue pill tendencies and I get angry at myself for having them. I hate myself for being so blue pill.

One of my earliest memories when I was 5 was my mother hitting me and locking me in the bathroom. I got pissed, and wrecked the bathroom, throwing everything I could get my hand on on the ground. What a stud I was then. The result? The bathroom door opened, my mother came in, whacked me across the face and made me clean up the entire mess. Shit like this really affects a man's psyche, and I still have wounds from other similar situations to this day. I have trouble getting angry, I have trouble getting close to people, I have trouble forming relationships, I have a demolished self-esteem, I am super self-critical, I have trouble trusting others.

I feel like I should cut myself some slack and "allow" myself to be blue-pill while I deal with all this childhood shit, but I can't get myself to do that. I feel stuck. I'm spending a ton of money to see a therapist to work on this, but I even feel ashamed opening up and telling her things like: "I care too much what other people think about me", "I have a shattered self-esteem", "I don't respect myself", "I feel fear all the time". I keep telling myself to man up and stop being a wuss, but that attitude towards myself hurts me more.

Is it okay to be blue pill? Am I being too hard on myself in telling myself to "man up?" I don't know how to accept my blue pill tendencies because of all the childhood abuse.
