I'm writing to ask for your advice on a difficult situation I'm facing as a regular customer at a local bar.

Staff that work there know everything about me, they know I don't have any friends or hobbies. I work online, so I spend a lot of time at the computer.

For some reason, when new women start working at the bar, they seem to be immediately prejudiced against me. They often give me dirty looks, barely acknowledge my presence, and never smile at me. It's as if my reputation precedes me and taints their perception of me before we even have a chance to interact.

This pattern has left me feeling isolated and unwelcome. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or why these women seem to have such a negative impression of me. I've tried to be friendly and polite, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm also confident in myself and I dress well. I don't think the problem is my behavior, but rather me as a person... or rather, my reputation.

I'm feel like I'm being treated unfairly. I'm not sure if this is a case of unconscious bias or something more malicious, but it's definitely having a negative impact on my self-confidence..

I want to emphasize that I have never made any advances towards any of the female staff. I never was needy or creepy and I would never do anything to make them feel uncomfortable.

In addition, I've received positive feedback from women outside of this context. Probably because their perception of me is more "honest", they don't have info on me provided by the other girls (bad gossip).

Is bad gossip so powerful that it creates a scorched earth around me? It seems like there are no girls who don't care.

Is my lifestyle the problem?
