What are some key indicators you've reached the "friend zone"?

Indicators? Basically if you have to ask, you're probably there already. To clarify what the friend-zone is, it's when there are two people, and one has unreciprocated feelings for the other.

If you're already "good friends," then you've most certainly let your chance go. If you've known this girl for longer than say, a month or two, then she's probably moved on, if she was interested, or turned off because you lacked the confidence to make a move by now.

Stop looking for "indicators." Good lord, man. All this thinking and not acting is what fucked you over the first place. This is how you'd find out if another girl in the future is down:

You meet her and the initial interaction goes well. Contact information is swapped.
You invite her out, one on one.
You escalate while paying attention closely to her reactions so you can calibrate what you're doing. This is when she will actually show "signs" of attraction, when you're escalating. Not before.
Voilà! At this point you'll know if she's down or not.

What you don't do is sit back and friend-zone yourself first and then try to work backwards.

To answer your questions explicitly, here are some indicators that alert the fact you're in the friiieeendzone:

If she says:

"Omg wbyrd2, Brad is such an asshole, but I still love him because that dick bomb."

"Uhg, wbyrd2, I'm so poor. Can you buy me to chipotle? <3 You're such a good friend, you wouldn't let me starve right? Also, I need some alcohol for this party I'm going to <3."

"You're such a good friend wbyrd2. In fact, you're like a brother to me."

All joking aside, what you could really do is try to physically escalate. Find out for sure if she has any sort of physical/sexual attraction towards you.

Do you only do things friends do? (lunches, coffee, movies etc) Yes? Then you're in the friend zone.
Do you go on romantic dates (dinner, drinks etc)/have sexual relations? Yes? You are not in the friend zone.
Unless you're dating and/or sleeping with this woman, you are currently IN the friend zone. I think your question should be "How to I leave the friend zone?".

The friend zone is just that someone is not into you. You have to remember that this decision is not up to you.

It's possible that the person is not very clear about her feelings, so the best thing would be to ask directly (but nicely and gently) if the person would be interested in a romantic date.

You might be past that stage already and having spent some great time together, sexual tension has build up and she's all smile when she sees you, but perhaps you are still wondering if you are misinterpreting (hahaha) so just ask if she would be interested in a romantic affair.

The answer might be "I thought you would never ask"

If yes, you're in the friend zone.

I'm not saying you have to say "I want to have sex with you." the moment you meet her, but the longer you wait after meeting a girl to make your intention to be considered a potential sexual partner known, however you go about doing so, the more she'll think you're not interested and think of you as a friend only, and as we all know getting back past the friend zone door bouncer into the fuck material club isn't impossible but it's damn close.

Women also seem to be completely oblivious that their guy friends may want to be more than friends. Back when I was younger every girl I came out and told after being friends for a while was completely shocked, and in hindsight I hadn't made a move so it's not all that surprising.
