Dont delve too deep into pickup research, just have a strong idea of daygame and nightgame basics and go out and employ them. The worst you can do is sit around reading all the theory and not applying it.

Need more context before we can give specific advise. Until then the general tips will have to suffice. Personally I think inner game is the most important. Self confidence is something you can cultivate by doing things every day that make you feel better about yourself.

Get in shape if you're not already. Honestly, I hate lifting. I love playing sports though so I've found a couple that I play every week and that keeps me in shape and feeling good, especially when my team wins.
Develop some kind of artistical / musical talent. It's a great stress outlet and form of self expression and chicks dig it. (Especially dancing, guitar, piano, painting, and photography)
Take dance lessons. Find a dance you like (preferably some that involves a partner like two-step, salsa, or tango). It's a great place to meet women and EVERY girl likes a guy who can dance. This is also a good way to make you more confident talking with women because each class forces you to hold hands and make small talk with a girl.

NOW. At the same time you're developing you inner game (that development never stops) you have to approach. Bug your friends to set you up on dates. Download every dating app and use it every day. Find a wing man and go to bars on the weekend. Practice your day game at coffee shops or places you like to go. There's guides all over Reddit and other pua forums about approaching. Read those, but most importantly PRACTICE. You will FAIL, it is a necessary component of growth. To paraphrase Edison, you have to learn 999 ways to not make a lightbulb before you discover the ONE way to make a lightbulb.

A third thing you can be doing while developing all these good habits, it's dropping some bad habits. If you smoke a lot of marijuana or tobacco, try to cut back. Improve your diet. Drink less alcohol. Everybody has vices, and they can hold your game back whether inner game or your approach game.

I'd recommend expanding your social circle, even it's just more guy friends. Inevitably, as your circle increases you'll get invited to parties and events and there will be women there. Having a good group of friends including guys/girls and looking a like a normal, sociable type of guy produces 'social proof' and this can go a long way in meeting lots of girls and coming from a good starting point in the interaction.

You've said that you don't do cold approach, so this is the other option; meet girls through your social circle.

Aside from what everyone else is telling (which is all good stuff), the worst thing you can do is dwell on the your bad luck with women. You will overthink stuff, worsening your approach anxiety, and ultimately leading to your failure.

Establishing the "not give a fuck" attitude and carrying it with you into the field is the best thing you can do.
