I always find these types of responses interesting. Her saying, “as long as you don’t hit on me, we can continue this convo,” indicates that she was thinking of you hitting on her. It would be easier for me to interpret this if I could see it happening. However, you probably could have just said, “ok,” and then continued to go about your conversation in a normal way and playfully teased her if you were comfortable.

People don’t always say what they mean and things are not always as they seem. Body language is important in these types of situation. Like what if you had a strong eye contact and were smiling at each other and then she said, “I hope you’re not going to try to hit on me.” That’s a lot different than a girl chewing gum and looking at the door in hopes of leaving as soon as possible saying the same thing.

People who say things like this probably wish they were being hit on more. Don’t always structure your responses on the literal meaning of what someone actually says, even if they say it brusquely like it sounds happened here.

And what can you describe about your whole approach and how you actually opened her, non-verbally? Was there eye contact as you walked up? Were either or both of you smiling? What did you say at first?

So it was either that she misunderstood something or wanted to believe you were hitting on her.

I'd say that your response should be to kindly but firmly enforce some boundaries and establish your frame, which you did, by saying she should call the police if you hit on her.

The overall thing is: don't take it so seriously, but also don't let someone else tell you your frame, especially when they're so wrong about it. :P

Don’t do that. Stick with it. She doesn’t know you yet. Try to charm her in a very subtle way. Do not show interest in her. Instead, you want to ace the conversation and impress her at the same time. So don’t talk too much. Try to get her to talk. Preferably more than you. Also, be a good listener and maintain eye contact 100% of the time. Women are intrigued by men who can carry a conversation. You want to get her thinking. When you’re done, express how much you enjoyed the conversation and excuse yourself. Observe what comes next. A lot of the dating game is thinking on your feet.

You should've responded with "I'm hitting on you..what's your name?" If she leaves , then you never had a chance anyway. If she stays, you control a really dominant and sexy frame.

If you're hitting on a girl, own it. If you're not, then it doesn't really matter then does it?
