I was at a club and hit on a girl that was a real bitch about it, told me “ok bye now.” And then I hit on a girl that was actually really nice but the first girl was so bitchy she actually went out of her way to cockblock that interaction too when she spotted me. Some bitches are just cold hearted bitches.

This is an example of why I sometimes get annoyed when people are like ''try to work out what you did wrong or right. Just keep practicing until you get the skill down blabla'' as if all that matters is YOU!; I swear to god, it's basically 99% out of your control. You need certain variables (her thinking you're hot, her being single/approachable, her being friendly and in a good mood, etc etc) for an approach to be successful.

It IS a numbers game (as you have realised). You could literally build a realistic human looking robot and program him with 'game', and have him approach women, and the results of each approach would vary massively lol

If you had have stopped after teh first appraoch and posted a field report, I guarantee people would have said ''Dude, why did you ask her name? That's bad game. And your opener was boring. You should have went direct. That kind of approach doesn't work, bro!!'' (or some sort of reply like that)

However, they would have been wrong as you have learnt lol

The idea that 'game' is some sort of black magic and that when you do things 'right' and follow the 'rules' (which of course vary massively depending on whose method you follow) does more harm than good in my view

The first girl I hit on I give my usual opener of “hey I thought you were really pretty and wanted to come say hi.” She would barely tell me her name, wouldn’t shake my hand, mumbled everything she said, no smile or any sign of interest. So I moved on 10-15 seconds after approaching her.

Sounds like you had a good read on the situation here.... just out of curiosity, have you experimented much with using basic observational skills to open people? It's pretty easy, quick, and results in original openers that sometimes can't be duplicated.

The downside is that you need your focus outward, not inward; you need to be plugged into what's going on. (If you already do that, then ignore this downside.)

The upside: observational openers hit a girl with stuff she's either already thinking about, or can easily relate to. So far less resistance and you get a clearer read on whether they're rejecting you, rather than the opener.

A line like, "I thought you were pretty and wanted to come say hi," is an interruption. While this can work, sometimes people will reject an interruption when they wouldn't reject someone coming at them with something related to what they are already thinking about.

If you did the same opener, just realize that you can do better than this sort of compliment opener. Now, I'll be clear, this line can obviously work, but understanding what the moving parts do, can help you tweak it. What are you doing with this opener, really? Let's break it down:

It's an interruption; unless she was thinking about what you said (which would make her really vacuous, so I hope not), this opener has nothing to do with whatever she was about before you walked up. This is fine if you can sell the interruption. But some girls respond better to something that's more about stepping into their moment.
It's a general compliment, that speaks to nothing specific to who she is. Compliments are fine, but kind of empty unless you tie to to something specific. Something specific shows that you're paying attention, while a general compliment risks you coming off as if your observations stopped at her rack or ass. Which risks you coming off as basic, unless you are able to sell it VERY well.
It's an opener that you're repeating around campus. (Campuses can be like a small town, even the large ones, so take care not to be too routine in your approaches.) In general, the world is smaller than we think sometimes, and more so at university.

If you're going to do a compliment opener, at least make it meaningful. A one word adjective like "pretty," is cheap and shows no thought. It comes off like your grasp of her stops at her outer shell.

Compare that to a compliment that gets at her style, the way she's doing something or saying something..... you can still use adjectives like, pretty, beautiful, or whatever. But man, you could be having an impact, instead of now, where you're basically offering an empty compliment and hoping that she was already interested enough to overlook the lack of anything being brought to the table.

What are you doing to supplement this sort of cold approach? I mean, it's fine, but there's no need to put all your seduction eggs in the same basket. There are a ridiculous number of social events and groups at university....
