40 years old guy here. Looks are somewhat important, specially among the younger girls who are all into the pretty boys. The older you get the more you understand that your personality can make or break a deal with a woman... Maybe this is related to the confidence you display when you get older... sometimes I think that my teenage years would have been a lot more “successful” if I had know everything that I know now, and if I haven’t chickened when talking to a woman...

First, you need to ask yourself a question, what is "good looking"?

In your head I imagine you think its got something to do with your face. Some part of it does of course, but, there's a lot that goes into a man being "good looking", everything from hair style, facial hair, teeth, hygiene, clothing style, height, etc. Now, some of those are within your control, and some of those aren't. Work with those that you can. If your teeth are crooked or yellow, get braces, bleach, always brush and floss, make sure your breath is great.

Find a good hair stylist, get one around your age, preferably that's of the quality women you would want to date and ask her for styling suggestions. Tell her you want a hair cut that will make you look your best. Play around with facial hair, find something that makes you look the best. All these things can have a significant impact on your looks and all are within your control. Not only that, are you thin and fit? If not fit, that is 100% in your control, join a gym, find a workout that works, lift weights, build some muscle. Think about hot girls. The single most important quality of a hot girl is her body fat percentage. In a couple of years you can add 20 pounds of muscle and it will make a huge difference. Start dressing well, doesn't have to be expensive, but learn something about fashion and find your own style, especially with some muscle, make sure you show it off.

Second, commit this to memory, Attractive and Good Looking are different concepts. You want to be attractive. Good looking is a small subset of attractive. Attractive is about being strong, confident, having good body language, being a good conversationalist, having good eye contact and vocal tonality, having a good smile. These are also all things you can work on.

You can lift weights and make your body look good. Learn to dress well and your at a advantage. Have good posture, strong eye contact and a good voice and your pretty much contending with the top guys. Get rich and/or famous and you are at the top.

I'm really not that good looking here, but I've noticed a few things: First off, make her laugh. Crack jokes and be funny. Different people respond to different types of humor, so keep trying until you find what works. Also try to engage her friends and just be fun. If you make her friends smile and laugh, chances are they'll help you out, but if you try to isolate her from them, then the opposite is true. I can't think of any examples of how to be fun, but you just want to be the kind of person that makes her smile. If you want a relationship, you also have to be relatable. Like you can talk about a lot of different topics and have deep conversations, but that's not important if you just want casual stuff.

It's all in your head. First up, there's not such thing as an ugly person, your either physically attractive(good facially symmetry, nice jawline, high cheekbones) or your not. Despite that, you can always heighten the way you look through fashion, good hygiene and working out. So get it out of your head that your looks are slowing you down Second, you gotta work on the approach anxiety, rejection is going to happen attractive or not, that's just how it works. Things I've seen in many PUA videos is that you should warm-up when going to club to get rid of that anxiety, approach someone, get insta-rejected. Move to the next girl, make small-talk, get rejected. Next, have an actual conversation... you get the jist. The goal is to build yourself up each approach.

This is all easier said than done but I hoped this helped a bit.
