The problem with this is the assumption that people know what “friendly debate” and “normal person” (how to treat her) are.

Friendly debate advice could go horribly because you don’t know her and you START by telling her that her opinions are shit and you know better.

Not the best move if you want her to like you.

I think this can be used even as a basics for talking to humans in general, not just someone you're interested in. And it is true, less is more. Women like a good listener whether you are a male or female.

As a woman, I don’t mind a guy disagreeing with an opinion I have, as long as his reason for disagreeing isn’t that I can’t possibly be well informed enough to form a valid opinion.

In fact, being able to politely disagree and discuss differences of opinion in a way that is light and funny, is a great sign to me that I could like this guy.

The key is making the disagreement about different opinions and not about persuading someone you are smarter and better at knowing what is best.

Another side to a good conversation is a friendly debate.

While a good first discussion can certainly include a debate, this whole part needs an entire post to properly set up, not a really brief nod at the end of this really good post.

So, let's say you meet a woman for the first time.

"What? You like that movie? It was a CGI-fest with no good story."

"Awkk, you like that song? The singer sounds like a kid who can't sing trying to perform at a talent show."

The key to a friendly debate is not to say they have bad taste, but to say what you don't like about it.

We're talking about a more advanced idea here that needs explanation.

Breaking rapport takes a HUGE amount of calibration to be aware of how it will land.

A LOT of people are turned off if someone they just met starts heading down the, "Well actually....." Road. Done wrong, this can easily come off like splaining or ham-fisted negging.

You're saying the key is not to say they have bad taste, but let's look at the phrases suggested:

"What? You like that movie? It was a CGI-fest with no good story."

This amounts to connecting her to that thing (You like that movie?) and then saying that thing is bad.
Which is functionally the same as saying she has bad taste.
- The alternative would be stating your own taste in a personal way that doesn't involve her specifically, but focuses on you. Like, "I wanted to like it, but it had too much CGI for my taste, and the climax of the story didn't land for me. I just couldn't buy it when the character did XYZ."

"Awkk, you like that song? The singer sounds like a kid who can't sing trying to perform at a talent show."

Again, this amounts to connecting her to the song and then saying the song sucks.
Which is the same as saying she has bad taste.
- The alternative in this case might be something that sticks to stating one's own taste. But honesty, unless you're both up on music theory, there's not much of a nuanced "debate" to be had about musical taste, which is subjective.
