It’s better to express desire than to compliment. Expressing desire creates sexual tension as it shows actual sexual/romantic interest in her, whereas complimenting is just congratulating them, which doesn’t necessarily show a sexual or romantic interest in her.

If you say her eyes are pretty you are not really saying that you are into her, you are just saying an opinion or evaluation of the beauty or her eyes.

However if you say the way she looks at you like that, your heart rate increase for example, this shows an actual romantic interest in her as you are not giving an opinion on her good qualities, you are saying that her qualities have a physical or emotional effect on you and that’s what flirting is and what truly creates sexual tension.

Physical compliments have the chance of offending women, especially with the feminist influenced women of today. You probably know this as well since your posting about it, basically asking whether its worth the risk to compliment them in such a way.

It's generally advised not to compliment a women's appearance, unless you know what your doing, or you know her well enough. There are some instances when a physical compliment is one of the only options. For example when your doing cold approach and you stop a girl when she's walking on the street.

Physical compliments can create a flirtatious vibe as well, and can be a Segway into flirting.

Beautiful women are used to been told that they are beautiful, so if you want to stand out from other guys then compliment her on something else besides her looks. Maybe compliment her fashion sense or say that you think she's got a great sense of humour, etc.

For me, like to compliment them on their earrings or something else they are wearing that is unique and ask them where they got it from and if there is a story behind how they got it. This builds a deeper connection especially if there is a significance regarding how they got that item and is way better that simply saying something like "I think you are beautiful".

Compliments about a woman's attractiveness from people she doesn't know extremely well are usually taken negatively.

As a general rule, people prefer to be complimented on things they've worked hard for, and not born with.

Fun and lighthearted compliments work, especially on girls that are attracted to you. The preface is, you have to be able to pick up on indicator of interests, and approach the right ones. Your chance of coming off as a creep increases if you approach a random stranger.

Personally I’d prefer a compliment on something subtle like you mentioned to begin with! When a guy opens with “hey you’re so beautiful” it feels kinda cookie cutter. Like, if you’re approaching me I already know you think I’m sexually attractive, make me feel like an individual.

Also, a compliment on something more specific can be a conversation starter. For example, for me, if you tell me you like my nails, I’d probably say “thanks I do them myself!” and there you go, easy opportunity to ask me more about something I’m obviously interested in.
