My ex and I share 50/50 custody and are both heavily involved parents. My ex remarried and I know there is a bit of confusion with our son. He says she is his mom also or "step-mom" but I believe he is being pushed into that title. Anyway, I explain to him that he has parents a mom and dad and then there is mommy's partner who helps just like my parents (his grandparents) do. So she is not your mom.
How do I explain this to him as to not push anything down his throat etc.? My personal opinion is he has a Mom and Dad, and someone that is with him less than half of the time (50% and she works a lot) so spends 30% with him with no legal standing and only for two years is considered a "Mom". Again, those are my thoughts on it and that title should be thrown around just because a parent marries someone else and to make it more of a "pleasing" adults behavior. My ex likes to push different narratives. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
