My impression has been that the self improvement stuff was the core strategy for dealing with the reality that the RP documents. So it was always the core conclusion on how best to deal with it.

Black Pill was derived from those who saw the RP prescription as being useless or a waste of time.

So basically Black Pill is where you end up if you reject the self improvement approach.

I mean, TRP is mainly just about observations on how attraction/people work. The self-improvement stuff is just a natural reaction to that.

The shift is solely a result of two key things:

Hope is much easier to sell than hopelessness. Telling people to improve and saying you can learn how through their [shitty] course is a lot more profitable than saying "give up"
We have more access to self-improvement items. For example, you can fight balding, which you couldn't a couple of decades ago. We also have far better tools and information regarding bodybuilding that previous generations didn't have access to.
