Hello.

Most would probably call this overthinking, but I have time for this stuff now as Iam in "between jobs."

A girl I think is nice asked me if I could fix her hinges in her apartment. No problem Iam a marine engineer,, she knows I know my way around the lubes,, She does not have a car, so I guess a bit easier to ask me to fix it, than to go out and get some lube her self.

I guess some people also use the old trick to ask people to come by and fix something to get to be around the person.

But it got me thinkig about the whole white knight thing. I have never been one, actually always been a bit probably too hesitant to help people, no matter who they were. Always took a bit of pride in fixing things my self,, so never came that natural to help a lot of people either. So I guess iam very far from being in the white knight category. But being asked this got me thinking. When do you know if something is just helping somebody and when its too much, when people exploit you. When do you know you are doing some white knight stuff? Like driving across town to drive the girl to her fuck boy, which is not you :-)

Do you have like a good thing one can ask yourself if what you are about to do, is just fine, being nice or some white knight shit? Like a good question or something.

My exsample is such a small thing, I want to do it. And as I have never helped people a lot. I have a feeling it could come back 10 fold if I actually started helping people a bit more.

TLDR: How do you know if what you are about to do is just "genuine real help" and when it could fall into "White knight actions" ?
