I mean if we can achieve our goals. Which is stoping male gender roles and benevolent sexism. Even feminist themselves upheld male gender roles and benevolent sexism. Men are still expected to be protectors, providers, and be chivalrous. You know all the "positive masculinity" nonsense.
This is definitely going to be a culture shock for a lot of women. I compare this to what Dr. K said about men in a video I can't find. He said men are being taught specific traditional female gender roles in a society that don't need men. And how this can limit men in society. Since men can't automatically get women with just a job and money. Women already have money and jobs.
Not only do women have money and jobs. They are also excelling in these areas. And even outperforming men in certain career fields. Dr. K talks about this being detrimental to men, because they aren't aware of this fact. They still think all they need is a job to get women. So this mindset puts men behind in society, at least behind career wise. But similar to how men are behind in a particular area in society. Women may be likely to be behind in a particular area in society too.
That area is them being socially behind. And Feminism is partially to blame here. Feminism did a good job of telling women how female gender roles are bad. But they never told women how male gender roles are bad. A lot of feminists have either just ignore male gender roles. Or pull mental gymnastics to try to justify male gender roles. By saying women deserve men following gender roles because women are oppressed, men have privilege, and men created the patriarchy.
There is that one study that says women respond better to benevolent sexist men. And they considered men who treat them equally or treat them like other men misogynistic, women haters, or incels. Like the saying goes. I guessed when you are so accustomed to privilege, equality starts to feel like oppression.
Me and other men have so much anodotal experiences with this phenomenon. Me personally I have experience this numerous times. Whether it's in school, the workplace, or in public. Many women become frustrated or perplexed at the fact that I'm not not a chivalrous man. They call me an asshole or gossip to their friends about how mean I am. Despite me being a asocial man who barely speak to them.
This phenomenon is way bigger than me. We all know about classic stories about women complaining about men not interacting with them in the workplace or in public anymore. I have heard horror stories of men being reported to HR for not speaking to women. Of course all this is ironic comedy goal. Since this is the gender that usually picks the bear. But still upset that the "violent" poisonous bugs/skittles men aren't interacting with them anymore.
But obviously women aren't getting the script here. Similar to how Dr. K explain how men weren't getting the script. That script being that you shouldn't have outdated expectations for the opposite gender. We all know it's socially expected thing for men to be the ones to pursue or approach women. This male gender role probably plays role in why a lot of women are upset with the interaction thing. Even the romantic movies reflect these beliefs or ideas. A lot of women are still being taught this in a society that is constantly changing.
Even in everyday life women still have the same expectations for male strangers, like the woman in the video. Especially when it comes to male chivalry. A lot of womeb idea of the BARE MINIMUM is a man being chivalrous. Whether that be opening doors, helping them, or doing favors for them. Doesn't matter if they are dating this man or this man is complete stranger.
Now imagine a woman walking into a male stranger who doesn't live up to this "bare minimum" one day. She is going to be in for a rude awakening. Especially if she feels entitled to male chivalry. Again we would probably say the same about a average man who still thinks women are going to be impressed with his money. In both scenarios the person is setting themselves up for failure because they have an outdated expectation for the opposite gender.
Now you may say we don't live in this world YET (emphasis on the word yet). Because we could possibly soon live in a world like this though. Again with the phenomenon of men not interacting with women anymore or being chivalrous to them. Seeing groups of women complaining about men not interacting with them or being chivalrous to them anymore is definitely not a good sign of women handling the script well.
In conclusion.
Similar to how men can hold themselves back for having outdated gender views. The same could possibly happen to women one day too.
