Sure, telling experience can somehow help to give context and examples.

However, it depends on what is being told and described.

In some stories you can read of people who said this or did that, but the focus should be on the HOW and WHY rather than the WHAT they did something.

Culture, age and overall context make a great difference.

Not to mention that some stories are anecdotal, so you can’t get a rule from it. But you can debunk some beliefs.

For example: if a short guy gets rejected several times, it doesn’t mean that all short guys will be rejected and it doesn’t mean that the cause of rejection was height.

The toughest thing is you can’t tell who’s actually walking the walk when giving advice. Plenty of guys can give you advice but eventually it gets repetitive. “Dress well, groom yourself, workout.”

I remember why I fell in love with this sub and it was for the field reports, and I feel like I never see them anymore. Anyone looking for help should look through the field reports, those are the perfect blend of story and advice, especially if they’re well detailed.

I always try to be extremely detailed and how I remembered it .. like this people can pick out the parts they feel they can apply to themselves.. we all have different personalities at the end of the day

My take is that some of the posters that give “advice” have no real experience. This really dilutes the great advice that can be found. Hence, why the field reports are valuable as you can learn from the success and mistakes made.

There is a lot of well meaning posters here, that give great advice/stories and help build confidence.

However, sadly, I feel there’s a substantial amount that don’t have a clue or are looking to make “funny” replies for likes.

Woman's POV: this sub is such an echo chamber of half good advice, half terrible.

It makes me think you're right and people giving advice are not happy with their own dating lives, just repeating the same mantras, and maybe a few of them are sociopaths.

Eg of great advice: get out of a negative mindset, practice talking to women, work on yourself to be interesting and well-groomed
Eg of awful advice: the goal is quantity/phone number, seeing all women as interchangeable, increasingly touching women indiscriminately, quick to sexual innuendos and cringey lines, lying, whatever the fight of my-frame/her-frame...
