Why did she disagree? She wants it full-time?

Truly if no concerns for international abduction on rather parts, who really cares?

In my case I have it with me. I read a journal entry she would move far away from me to another country. She's never traveled with our child outside as of yet.

I sure had a problem getting consent when I was leaving with the kid tho.

I think I've seen cases where it was to be kept in escrow with one of the party's attorneys and only released to either by agreement from both parties. Maybe an option here.

If there’s no concern for international abduction, best to keep all documents in the same place and accessible to either party as they need them. It shouldn’t matter who and the switching seems a little odd, frankly. Additionally, make sure there’s solid renewal language and register with the state department to be notified whenever new passports are issued.

If there are concerns re: abduction - that’s another story.

I guess it depends on what country you live in. I’m in the US, and have primary for enrollment in school, so I keep the kids’ ID’s (social security cards and passports).

However, we have a stipulation in the decree about advance notification of international travel, so if I was informed by their mom that they were going to travel outside the US I am ordered to relinquish their passports within 10 days of notice.

That is an interesting question, the Court with generally give that right to the person with primary.
