I found out recently, I have rock solid proof (voting records) that my STBXW is cohabitating w her new BF. They’ve been together almost 2 years and they’ve since had a baby. She cheated on me and left the home, and I’ve been supporting her ans her new family since March 2023 w over half my take home pay every week. Oh and get this, we don’t have any kids together, she didn’t have any before she met this guy she’s with now who’s 12 years younger than I am. Anyway, I co-own my home w my father in WI, we bought it together in 2001, and I got married in August 2016. She left in October 2022, and filed End of Feb 2023, so it was a 6 year 3 month marriage.
She came into the marriage w no money, we never had any joint bank accounts or any joint finances whatsoever. The house is still in my father and my name, the deed and the mortgage. She never contributed 1 penny toward any payments, never improved the home, had no “role” in the home, she just lived there because it was my house. She was a bartender and made a bunch of cash tips she never claimed and it looks like on paper she made way less than she actually did. We never had any joint finances and I don’t even know if she even had a bank account. She may have been cohabitating from day 1.
Anyway, we were about to go to trial in December when she asked now for a home appraisal. So now it’s changed to a status conference and I have a call w my lawyer this afternoon. It’s unbelievable what this woman is getting away with, not only did she destroy me mentally for 2 years, she wants to damage me so bad that no one else would ever think about dating me. She made a total of less than $30k during the marriage, but again, I never paid her directly; I had same exact expenses before I even met her, so it didn’t matter to me if she worked at all or worked all the time, I never saw any benefit from it (she would use my credit card to buy me Xmas and bday presents for example). Also, over 10% of her income came from doing meaningless work for the company I own (which isn’t a marital asset). Yes I am a relatively wealthy person, but it’s all my wealth and I made it all in spite of her in my life.
I’ve already paid her way over her gross income for our entire marriage in temp maintenance, and after finding out she’s been cohabitating, what are the chances the judge will find she was overpaid and I can maybe get some of this back? Also, her pregnancy delayed the divorce at least 8 months and I had to pay support that entire time as well. Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight before I meet w my lawyer today.
Thanks in advance!
