What shift in culture has caused this imbalance where men are shamed (justifiably) for their porn consumption, or less justifiably for even the most basic sexual preferences. Meanwhile women speak publicly about their favorite literary porn category, throw fits when YA fiction (for ages 12-15) doesn’t have enough gooner content for their adult preferences. Recently more legislation challenging the legality of pornography has been proposed and the only people publicly protesting it are women. I frequently see female YouTubers doing paid promotions (for an all ages audience) selling sex toys and discussing their masturbation to children in the audience. The examples are endless, so i ask, what has caused this double standard? Why is it that men are expected to be modest and anyone who expresses discomfort at the public displays of female sexuality are attacked for being misogynistic?
