Why are 7 in 10 homeless people guys? It makes no sense in the name of Davy Jones' that it's because of substance abuse, it's because of lack of support. All people with disabilities should get support too, regardless of gender, prioritizing over those without disability.

I don't mean this disparagingly but it's easier for women to find someone to shack up with, in a desperate situation, to stay off the streets. Of course that presents a whole different set of undesirable circumstances for them but it may be preferable to being on the streets.

It's also because guys don't care about what a woman makes.

If you're somewhere and some cute homeless girl comes around and at least comes off as someone level headed, you're likely able to consider her.

Even more realistically, if putting a roof over someone's head was the only ingredient needed to cook up some cheeks, there'd likely be guys doing that too.

When women's first questions for men are: where do you work, do you own a home, what car are you pushing... Homeless guys are just as disqualified as someone with missing teeth is when a girl lists "nice smile" as her requirements for a boyfriend.

Divorce may be a major reason. Usually it's the wife and the kids that remain in the apartment/house, especially if there was some turmoil (no matter who started it).

I take the view that - in general - ordinary men and women aren't all that different from each other. I would expect that there are roughly equal numbers of men and women facing homelessness.

However, women tend to line up a potential "savior" before they end a relationship, whereas men tend not to. Largely speaking men are still burdened with the task of providing a roof over a family's head. A man definitely cannot rely on any woman coming to his aid in times of crisis.

Then there are local gendered outcomes to social policies which skew the result. Sex-neutral laws can be (legally) applied in a sexist way because women have been designated as an "at-risk" group, where men haven't. This allows local authorities to prioritize homeless women for shelter spaces, over men.

How many of those homeless guys get their houses, wealth, etc. ripped away from them after being divorce-graped? A massive wealth transfer is happening! But karma has a way of getting even. I understand that women overall financially do worse than men after their divorce! And they are more at risk than men. Hahaha! Just got to love karma!

3 big reasons:

Male phenotypic diversity is greater than female phenotypic diversity: There are more men at the top, but there's also more men at the bottom.
Men are human doings, women are human beings: There is a lot more public assistance for women. Men at the bottom are failures, women at the bottom need help.
Price of pussy: women can trade sexual access for favors (money, relationships, help) while men don't have that option.

I'm sure there also a lot of small reasons, but those 3 stick out to me as the big reasons.

Well speaking of disabilities, males are generally more likely to have a lot developmental disabilities.

In the U.S., boys are 1.68 times as likely as girls to be diagnosed with communication disorders (speech, language, and voice problems), 2.38 times as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD, 1.69 times as likely to have intellectual disability and also 3.11 times as likely to be diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Many also probably had some form of head injuries, trauma or substance abuse which are more common in males.

This will lead to more of them struggling to perform and be pushed out of the society.

Add to this the lack of support for men.

I met guys in a me tal health support group and there were practically no resources for us. They had to try and beg family who would just tell them to man up or ignore them. The women often had boyfriends, dates, women’s shelters, and free therapy resources. We will always be protective of hurting women it seems.

I’d say it’s because they’re likely to leave a bad situation, rather than stick it out. Also probably the least likely to actually ask for help. It’s a complex subject though. It could also be they’re more likely to get into a bad situation in the first place. 🤔

Most states offer less than 1 month of shelter. There are private charities for women, but rarely for men. The problem isn't drugs; it is inflated apartments by greedy landlords and not building enough new apartments priced for the poor.

In Frankfurt, Germany 70% of drug deaths are female.

In Vienna,Austria it‘s around 50/50 with homeless people
