Why do you think it’s tolerated and not undermining to the wider credibility of the feminism movement, to have a vocal minority of genuine extremist misandrists, that I acknowledge aren’t true feminists regardless of what they may label or believe themselves to be; yet are very active in and around feminist spaces, public discourse, forums, social media, podcasts etc?

I ask because the vocal minority of genuine extremist misogynists, that aren’t true MRA regardless of what they may label or believe themselves to be; that are active in and around MRA spaces, public discourse, forums, social media, podcasts etc; are weaponised and disproportionately highlighted to be used to completely undermine and derail the MRA movement in its entirety.

For me, it’s quite simple; should you challenge a feminist on evidence of misandry within (for the lack of a better term) ‘the femosphere’, they will always respond with something along the lines of, feminists are not a monolith, as each individual holds their own personal political ideologies; feminists are also not responsible for the behaviour of other feminists, let alone the behaviour of misandrists or women on a wider scale.

Whilst I completely agree, acknowledge and accept that neither feminists nor women are a monolith; unfortunately much of the discourse within feminism does not readily, clearly and categorically use language that considers MRA nor men generally as anything but acting monolithically. This is very easily evidenced in how feminism has used the minority of misogynists who are not true MRA, but hide among us, to suggest if there’s one misogynist there, they are all misogynists; instead of accepting that each individual holds their own personal political ideologies.

So the need to recognise that MRA includes a very broad range of political movements within, with each individual having a personal ideology that’s not monolithic is required. In addition to this, there is a need to reciprocate the ‘extremely fair’ expectations from feminists that ‘I definitively support’ of all men having a responsibility to be calling out the bad behaviour of other men. It is therefore completely unacceptable that the current mindset of feminists to be rejecting any accountability for calling out the bad behaviour of other women exists. It’s inexcusable, requires recognition and is nothing more than a fair expectation in that all women should be held accountable.
