Stumbled upon this article on sexual violence perpetration in Australia.

Apparently, Australian Institute of Criminology did a self-reported study on perpetration of sexual violence in 2024.

From the article:

“Importantly, while one in six women reported perpetrating some form of sexual violence during adulthood … this was primarily attributable to their rates of sexual harassment and coercion perpetration,” the authors noted.

“These forms of sexual violence were the items with the smallest differences between men and women. In contrast, rates of perpetration of all forms of sexual assault and IBSA [image-based sexual abuse] were two to five times higher for men than women.”

Sexual coercion and sexual harassment are still forms of sexual violence.

Also, could it not be that women might actually be assuming consent for men when there was no actual consent?

They also ignored the fact that there is a notable gap in women perpetrating sexual violence vs men reporting sexual violence.

Based on the 2021–22 PSS, 14% (2.8 million) of people aged 18 years and over have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15. A higher proportion of women have experienced sexual violence compared with men:

  • over 1 in 5 (22% or 2.2 million) women have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15
  • 1 in 16 (6.1% or 582,400) men have experienced sexual violence since the age of 15 (ABS 2023a).
