Thanksgiving

This is my second TG after the divorce, first was just a few weeks after court so I wasn’t doing the greatest.

This one was much better, I’m doing much better than I was a year ago on all levels and I’m grateful to be surrounded by family that actually cares about me.

First Thanksgiving without my family as well. I almost isolated myself today but decided to call family and ended up tagging along with my brother in law and sister to my brother In laws family. Still here now. Glad I came. Even though I’m practically a stranger they all welcomed me with loving arms and well needed positive energy. My sons aren’t aren’t with me 2yo and 7mo but I know this is just a bump in the road for many holidays to come and to watch my boys grow knowing they have a dad that loves them and will always be there.

Holidays really don't phase me. It's the holiday week so we always have celebrated a day during the week when we were off during the time I was married. When younger definitely celebrated on holidays. As I became an adult some holidays missed out on prior to children. I reminisce on those days and family loss lately. Especially since during my marriage I burned a lot of bridges with my family so holiday get togethers have shrunk in size. Think I feel horrible because I had this childhood of family holiday dinners with about 8 to 12 people. Now just four people, including me, at the moment. Feel bummed my children won't experience that.

At the moment miss my family. I am not sure how to rebuild, if possible, any bridges. I am always so awkward a nomad at times. Not a great communicator not engaged in reaching out to people. One of my biggest weaknesses. Guess can say I am very much an introvert.

I also miss my children today. Work keeps me distracted. Not due to the holiday. I celebrated yesterday was a very special day. Just was so special I want them all the time.

Just focusing on that at the moment. Trouble not focusing or dwelling on this at the moment.

Processing life I am sorry. The other challenge is had these fantastic three days. Actually had a positive moment with my STBX and communication. My oldest took almost three days felt to have their emotions bounce back. Was emotional on me and I probably just took it harder than I should of. I am worried about them. I mean my mind just speculates on how things are in my ex place at the moment. Nothing bad it's just a family member of my ex has some new health issues and I am not sure how that's affecting my oldest. I worry about my youngest and what they are thinking of. Add in the holidays.

As I said had an amazing holiday celebration day before Thanksgiving with my children and my mom.

This is my first one since the separation (divorce is on the way) but I realize I was almost always alone on Thanksgiving anyway. She often chose to work, just like how she often chose to make time for everything except me (work, her friends, herself). So today I'm eating what I want, watching what I want, and playing video games. I have a bunch of friends that reached out, and next year I'll make more of an effort to be with friends on the holidays. This is just one day and one step in my journey.

55m div x 4 yrs ...still care for the ex who left me and out family...share a teen who's way closer to me....she's going to her family's with the bf and the family reached out saying how much they love me and miss me.....

At least I have my immediate family to spend day with my teen.....

Happy Thanksgiving guys…. 44/divorced male/no kids/single…. Do not sit around and sulk all day. If you are getting hit w lonliness…. W these holidays, you need to make your own traditions. If you have nothing else going on today, take yourself out and do something. You are and will always be your own best friend.

Happy Turkey Day!!!!

Was going to be my first one alone in almost 30 years, but I ran into a friend from work last night and he invited over to have dinner with him, his girlfriend, and some other people.

Sending good thoughts to you guys who will be alone today.
