Self-esteem issue, my man. You could be posting geeky WH40k stuff, it’s the vibe that matters, stop caring about “turning them off”, if you are proud of it why do you even want someone like that near you anyway?

Change things about yourself only when they are objectively wrong, like being messy, not sticking to the diet, etc. If you start doubting yourself because of things you like, you won’t ever feel good about yourself, which will also affect your game

I feel this, just from the other side. I’m a woman in my mid-20s, and I grew up on social media and even got pretty consistently bullied on it throughout growing up, so I understand that pressure of caring who’s watching and what they think. For me, it got to a point where it was affecting way too much - how I looked, how I acted, even what I thought I should want in life. Not just appearance, but lifestyle too. I think comparing is natural, but the level social media pushes us to compare is not. What helped me wasn’t quitting, because I do like being creative and sharing things. I just changed how I use it. Now I treat it more like a scrapbook - posting things I genuinely like, like memories, people I care about, places I go. Not posting to impress or get a specific reaction. I also had to be honest with myself about access. When my account was fully public and random people were watching my stories, it started to mess with my head. So I unfollow people if their content affects me, and I don’t overthink it. It’s not malicious - it’s just me taking care of my space. And realistically, most people don’t care as much as we think. Another big thing is catching myself when I start overthinking - like checking who viewed or trying to read into likes. When that happens, I take a break or delete the app for a bit. Not as punishment, just to reset and get back to myself. I even sometimes post and then step away for a few days so I’m not sitting there analyzing reactions. That helps a lot. I guess my main point is: if you’re posting mainly for certain people to notice, it’s always going to feel stressful. It only started feeling better for me when what I posted actually felt true to me, regardless of who sees it

It’s cooler to have no or low-profile social media and be a dope person in real life interactions. You develop mystery and intrigue that way. Fuck social media.

Before the how, find out the why. Why do you need to seek people’s validation?

Most people-pleaser are that way because of their upbringing. Maybe absent parents, maybe their parents didn’t shower them with praises and compliments when they were kids. Or maybe they’ve been abused/neglected by their parents or other family members so the only way to feel exist is to get people’s approval.
