Figured I would give a real update because a lot has happened since the last one.
This part of it has been a grind.
She left and I ended up handling everything with the house. And I mean everything. Cleaning out a 3,000 square foot place, getting it ready, landscaping, painting, coordinating showings, constantly keeping it in condition to leave at a moment’s notice. Then the inspection. Appraisal was today.
It has been nonstop.
The house is officially under contract at asking price, so that is a huge win. Closing is set for the end of May. Once that happens I should be completely debt free, which honestly still does not feel real.
But getting here has been a lot.
One thing I did not expect was how support changes over time. Weeks 1 through 4, people are checking in constantly. Calls, texts, making sure you are good.
Now things have quieted down a lot.
Not in a bad way, just reality. People have their own lives. But it definitely hits you at some point that this is something you have to push through mostly on your own.
At the same time, everything else in my life is changing fast.
New job starts in less than two weeks. I am moving halfway across the country in about a week. Starting over completely. New place, new routine, new environment.
It is a lot all at once.
And part of what makes this harder to process is understanding who she really is.
This was not a one time mistake. She is a habitual cheater. I found out years ago and stayed, thinking it could be fixed. It was not. It just got hidden better.
So while I have been here dealing with the fallout, handling everything that was left behind, she is out living her life like none of this exists.
That part still gets to me.
And if I am being honest, there are moments where I want to call her and go off. Say everything. Lay it all out. Make sure she understands exactly what she did.
But then I stop and think
Why give her that satisfaction
Why let someone who treated me like that have any access to how I feel now
Why let a cheater know anything about me at this point
Silence feels stronger than anything I could say
It does not feel fair. And maybe it never will.
But I am starting to understand that fair is not really part of this.
What matters is that I handled what needed to be handled. I stepped up when it would have been easy to fall apart. I am closing this chapter the right way.
And when all of this is done, I walk away with a clean slate
New job
Debt free
Fresh start
Still not healed. Still have moments where it all hits.
But I am moving forward whether I feel ready or not
