Last night was my son’s preschool graduation and my ex tried to do what she normally does and ignore my existence. I basically said screw
that, not in front of my son, and interacted
with her like she hadn’t done all sorts of terrible things to me. I basically spit in her soup, as the saying goes.

This morning, I feel exhausted and sad. It took a lot out of me to put on that mask in front of my son. To be civil to this person that has done all sorts of terrible things towards me. To put on a face of strength.

This is a person who has filed false DV allegations against me, who has treated me horribly, who has taken no accountability for the ending of our relationship, and who has blamed me for the ending of our 15-year relationship. I feel like I had to dissociate slightly to be civil towards her.

Can anybody relate?
