Forget the political parties for a second and read the news in this view:

A very controversial minister of Defence, currently involved a war that is not going according to plan, proposes a measure tied to the trendy concept of TRT. The progressives across the globe are biting the hook and starts immediately talking about the manosphere and mocking the measure.

Here are some facts:

  1. TRT has indeed been promoted by the Gym-Bros and the community for artificial enhancement. It produces visual results and has really severe and often permanent side effects that are not being discussed. Chugging Testosterone to look good is equivalent to doing cocaine to have a good day at work.

There are currently medical services in the US would easily send Testosterone to people, based on a single blood exam, making people actually quite sick in the process, as TRT is not exactly a harmless type of therapy, quite the opposite.

  1. The way this program was designed and announced, it was just transferring the Bro-talk to the public sphere. Such programs require better planing, with a stated goal, an awareness campaign and as far as Testosterone is concerned, more than one measurements are necessary to determine how things are going. The drawbacks of TRT must also be discussed.

  2. Andropause is an issue that has not been discussed, compared to Menopause, which is a medical issue that is constantly under discussion for the last 3 decades. Many protocols are in place for Menopause and public awareness. Andropause unfortunately not really.

  3. A single measurement of Testosterone cannot reveal much, same as a single measurement of blood glucose. There are protocols in place for this kind of therapy, that are also not being discussed. Scanning people at large can however definitely prohibit undetected severe hormone deficiency, which is currently not something discussed at the GP or even at specialists (eg. psychiatrists), when considering symptoms that could be owed to reduced testosterone.

  4. Opposing the measure, by naming it Manosphere, mocking it as Gender Affirming policy, mocking the person who made the announcement is alienating men even further. Now the only voice talking for them is someone echoing the deepest chambers of the manosphere and the other voices are just uselessly attacking the whole concept of medicine for men and the institution of the army - which is mostly based on men.

The losers are people who would benefit from medically supervised real TRT, are people who are doing TRT somehow freehanding, are people who are being told, their health does not matter. The winners are the bad-Manosphere people and ofc those who stand to benefit from a diversion of the discussion.

I still keep getting surprised at the inability of "the progressives" to adjust to the divisive rhetorik of "the conservatives". There is ample space of attacking the lack of any men-centered health policy or even how this measure is being implemented in a half-assed way, as if a gym-bro designed it. But no, let's attack men instead. As if this isn't what gave so much space to the extremist side of the conservatives to start with.
