I had a discussion in a psychology class the other day, and as you imagine, there is practically no men in the class (3 including myself) among 22 other women and a female instructor. The topic of rape came up and everything was very civil, factual and fair. Professor reminded women men are raped in jail and the military and never included in general feminists stats. Went on to say how rape is an escape of the ID and rapists are more or less mentally ill, not regular men.
At that point, the rape culture stuff started from every direction of the room. I sat back and listened and it was nothing new or anything we have not heard before. At one point I brought up a though, as i was in a classroom that promotes critical thinking. I said calling America a rape culture is insulting to women who actually live in a real daily fear of getting raped (Africa, Sudan, the Middle east) and that American rape culture is projecting the theory that all men could and would rape if given the chance, that is, rape culture in America is pretty much trying to convince every many is pretty much a potential rapist. This thought was meant with rape apologist and the normal BS. I mentioned how anytime a boy is raped by a teacher, he is victim blamed more than any woman you can find in the news.

So I am curious to what you guys think of my lose definition of American rape culture.

I actually find this rape culture phenomenon more insulting to women of 3rd world countries than I do to men here in America.

I am NOT making rape apologies, I am just questioning the use of the term rape culture as it pertains to men in America. I think this rape culture thing is just as damaging as running around saying black people steal
