Judging by OP's response to his email any sort of contact with the author will assuredly be misconstrued as yet another set of "harrassment and rape threats" from the boogie man MHRM no matter how politely they are written.

Perhaps just writing the editor is the better way to go.

I don't think it's a good idea to write to the author - or to make this post.

There will likely be some trolls lurking around, who will write threatening and abusive emails. The author is unlikely to listen to reason, and quite likely could misconstrue opinions as threats. Having a post on this subreddit could then be used to create an appearance of harassment.

Any correspondence should be directed to the editor - or better yet, posted in public on other threads at the site, which are not closed.

This action risks achieving the opposite of its intended effect.

I love how the author uses case studies as damning evidence. Case studies are ways to look at things that are so uncommon that actual studies cannot be preformed, such as savant syndrome. By using case studies the author is essentially able to cherry-pick things and prevent them as fact. The only problem with this is the author is shortchanging herself by applying this to generalizations. Basically she is saying "Look at these examples, they prove women are discriminated against broadly in tech." No, it means you found a few examples of discrimination.

This is her attitude toward discussion on the issue:

There's no point contacting her to voice your opinion. Even the editor seems uninterested in differing opinions. If anyone wants to form a conclusive rebuttal and post it as a separate blog post that seems like the best reply. She can't (legitimately) call a public blog post a death threat.

This piece shows the same thinking of every other feminist blogger/journalist. Take a small number of personal experiences/case studies and use them as proof of widespread problems.

Let's just forget that Aya Kyogoku stated she has always felt comfortable as a women in the industy, or that Gabrielle Toledano at EA made it clear that the problem isn’t sexism. Because all that fact speak is scary.
