Adding on to Matty's break down:

You want to make her qualify herself, so she doesn't feel so comfortable that she finds you boring (AKA Beta Bob telling her he likes girls like her, snoozefest) BUT as not to turn her away (AKA Wannabe Willy alienating her by calling her an ugly whore).

1. Realize that if she is asking you this, it's her most obvious way of saying to you, "I like you, do you wanna fuck me? Prove to me you're worthy." Remember, women speak covertly, not overtly — AND you are expected and demanded to make the first "true move".

2. Realize that she doesn't actually care what girls you're into, as long as she thinks she has a shot with you; therefore, don't take this question seriously — spin it into something funny & mysterious — like "the fun ones" that'll get her hamster wheel spinning and juices flowing.

Let her prove herself to you, pass another shit test or two, and it's all downhill from there.

The question is awkward because

It is... the trap is that you either include her or exclude her, neither works in your advantage.

Let's say she's slim, light blonde hair, wears jeans.... you look her up and down and say "slim girls... that that ask cheeky questions... girls unafraid to wear jeans.... " then look her in the eye and say "... brunette".

After that, tell her it's not about a type, but it's about being fun and open minded and a girl being fully congruent with herself and her personality... a complete relaxed outgoing person.

The idea is to sell it as high standards that anyone can aspire to... without quite discounting anyone.
