What do you think when guys from dating apps ask for your Snapchat/insta and ask for more photos of you?
Several days ago I matched with a guy on Tinder and agreed to give him my snap, despite not seeing the point (why give him my social media when, based on personal experience, guys never ask me out or want a relationship anyway?).
He then sent me several snaps of him with a kid (not his) with crazy effects and said "send snaps." This annoyed me because I don't like being ordered to do things, and it seems especially ridiculous to cater to a random guy's orders. Even if I would have otherwise been willing, I feel like acquiescing to an order so early on portrays me as a doormat/pushover. Additionally, though I was in high school when snapchat first came out, i never really got on board and I don't enjoy using it recreationally.
I left him on read. A few days later he sends me "Where are my snaps?" Tongue in cheek or not, it annoys me.
My friend said guys do this to verify your identity and vet your appearance.
But my insta has comments from people who know me IRL, and my Tinder is "verified." I'd consider sending more pictures if it's really just about verifying my identity and providing more for them to see if they're attracted, but I worry they're just in the business of collecting pictures from girls they never intend to meet.
