Come on man, is there nothing else going on in your life that the mother-in-law gets under your skin for "some time?" Who the hell are you to worry about or interfere with her extended family dynamics?
Your wife comes with parents, siblings, and all kinds of other fuckers. Those people are her responsibility. Are you pleased with your wife, kids, relationships, self? Those things you can influence/control. Let the wife know how you feel about things, then let her deal with it. If you are worthy, she will make you and your feelings the priority. If she feels more secure with her parents, then you are a pathetic excuse of a man, or she's just in it for the co-parenting thing.

Hi everybody, 6 years married hubby here.
What are you? A low SMV chick?

The only thing I have to say is don't let your children sleep with you or anyone else. EVER! Talk about drying up a vagina and creating a dead bedroom. WTF. You want to live the next 10 years with a child throwing a tantrum because they can't sleep with you? Bloody hell.

It always starts off with a tradeoff. One night of sleep right now and fuck the consequences down the road. Then before you know it you're cockblocked for ages.
Your bed is for you and your wife only.

If your wife wants to sleep with you she'll boot the kid right back out.
We've brought my son in on rare occasions if he's sick or we are traveling and he needs comfort, but it's always right back to his own room the next night. It's never been an issue.
Coincidentally my wife also isn't looking for an excuse to get tf away from me, so my son doesn't turn into one.

This causes problems only for guys with weak frame, or who lack leadership or authority in their family.
(OP is clearly such a guy ... but a man with strong frame and authority can choose whatever suits his preference or vision, and enforce a change to that as he later sees fit.)

She even said that we need to take my wife and the newborn to their house within a week of him being born
Just say no, why is that so fucking hard for you

This is confusing but it sounds like your mother in law runs your house and her own house too. Is she doing a good job? If so maybe just move yourself into the garage or a tent but see if you can still stay on the meal plan because she probably cooks good too.

hubby
Remove this word from your vocabulary. My test just dropped reading this.
A few things have been bothering me for some time but I've never talked about them openly to anyone.
NMMNG, WISNIFG. Read. Now.
that the grandchild will sleep with her and not me and my wife.
Do not ever have a child sleep anywhere but their own bed. This can be a crib next to your bed if needed early on but I'd strongly advise different bed and different room. Teach the kid independence from the start. My stbx pulled this shit with kids sleeping with her or her sleeping with them (which was 100% my fault of course). It took me 4 months to break a 6 and 11 year old of separation anxiety at night once we split.
Bottom line - you're in your mother in law and wife's frame. You can't lead a dog on a leash let alone your family. You have zero boundaries. And can't set them now because they're not even viable (you're not willing to nuke your family). You care more about putting your wife in an awkward position because
Sometimes I feel that maybe I'm just not a big family person and am a loner, and want to tell my wife that this can't continue but I don't want to put my wife in that position. Maybe I just need to change.
You do need to change, but you need to change to embracing what you really want and who you are. That's just lying to everyone in your life which is a pretty dick move and dishonest as fuck.
So anyhow, blah blah - sidebar, STFU, and lift. And SLOWLY start taking back your life.

If we were talking about a pride of lions, the time would come when the young male lion would overthrow the dominance of his own parents as well as others.
For this to work, the young lion must prove he is more capable than the others to ensure the safety and prosperity of the pride. But you can't fake dominance. You either are or you aren't.

In this case the MIL (mother-in-lion?) would eat him balls-first while David Attenborough monologued about the brutality of nature.
