"Love me or hate me but spare me your indifference" is an old saying that touches upon the gravity of disrespect when someone deliberately, studiously ignores you or feigns indifference to you. It's a bitch move, a passive aggressive form of disrespect.
I may sound like a whiny narcissist or oversensitive twit wanting to be the center of attention; please don't misunderstand me. Let me give two examples from my own life that happened recently. I would be interested to know how you would handle them.

A girl I'm dating has a drama queen friend. I met her for the first time when she visited my girl's house (to collect some DVDs or something). I was seated on the couch, and Drama Queen ignored me like I wasn't even there. Not even a nod of acknowledgement, not even a basic "hi". When I made a comment about something, she barely glanced over. It was so obviously affected and put on. She wasn't shy. She wasn't being absent minded. It was deliberate. I could go on about her motive, but it's not particularly important here. The main thing is it was deliberate bitchy disrespect, and she did it more than once.

I bumped into an ex at a club at the weekend, and I was friendly and civil to her and her friends. Everything was cool. Outside the club at closing time I met her again and we sat down together and chatted for a few minutes. One of her friends -- a loud, scrawny, annoying dipshit who made out with her in a bar a few months before she met me -- saunters up and starts loudly joking around and playfully shouting at her and just being a typical drunk tard at closing time. He doesn't even look at me; he just stands there for a good 10 minutes going for high fives with her and squawking in-joke terms of derogation for her. (She was tolerating it and being nice and laughing but she seemed slightly irked like she wanted him to get lost after a few minutes).
The guy did this multiple times even when me and the girl were dating. He'd wander into a room and do his best to ignore me as much as possible. I was never unfriendly to him and I didn't do anything douchey to merit it. But whenever we were all out together, he did his best to be all chummy with my girlfriend while pretending I didn't exist, in an almost cartoonishly stupid way that couldn't be justified as anything other than abject rudeness. No one else in the group was like this, they all thought highly of me and thought me and the girl were a great couple. Maybe the guy is jealous, but regardless of his motive, how would you deal with a guy trying to belittle you by ignoring your presence?
