It's your face, period. My wife convinced me not to have any facial hair for all of my beta years. I grew a short beard last winter and get compliments all around. I might shave it off in the summer if I so desire. Really it was a little sign that things are different for me now, but her approval is no longer part of the decision.

Keep it if you want it. No woman has ever left because someone grew a beard. I even grew a handlebar moustache, jsut because I could.

IF a lot of marrieds cut their hair as soon as they settle down, why not?

Gentlemen, let's not try to overgeneralize female behavior to the point of missing the obvious here.

You should be using beard balm 1-3 times daily, have a silk pillowcase to keep it from drying out overnight, and avoid washing it with anything but water more than once per week. If you don't do these things, then it's reasonable for her to complain. My wife's skin was literally turning red from abrasion until I consistently used beard balm. It's not hard to grow a glorious beard that feels pleasant to touch and doesn't have split ends. You can also do more fun things with a healthy beard, like a handlebar mustache.

Pro Tip: Get the balms that are whipped. They take 5 minutes to apply in the morning rather than 15.

its a test - keep the beard and in a while she will say "i like your beard its so manly". puss out by shaving and she will hate you forever

It's approaching summer. I may go a bit Sasquatch in the chest area over the winter. I recently manscaped it down to an acceptable visible level for the pool/lake we live near.

Wife noticed. I payed attention for fun. Eyeballwise I could tell she liked it. But then the next day complained how it's scratchy shorter. I told her I'd wear a t-shirt when we knocked uglies then.

I consider it along the lines of if you lose weight and they complain they like you softer. Of course!

It kills 2 birds with one stone.

Makes you less attractive to rivals.
Puts you in a frame of looking a particular way to please her.
Bonus Bird: You'll get winded quicker if you have to flee her for any reason.

Can anyone here remember the last time their woman consulted them on how they cut their hair, or if you said something...what kind of difference it would have made other than a lecture on what you don't know about hair styles.

Keep it a bit longer, if it's just stubble it can be annoying. I say I had mine around 3/16 to 1/4 of an inch, and my girl said it was "very soft."

An outstanding opportunity to practice holding frame! I did this for a while. She constantly complained, but giggled, every time I kissed her (watch what she does, not what she says). Eventually, I shaved for a job interview. The entire time I operated in my frame and never answered any questions about why I was doing it - which has been the most difficult part of RP for me.

/u/h22keisuke has a good point. My ex wife had super sensitive skin and if I wasn't freshly shaved she'd be bright red from a simple kiss.
