It's easy to get lost in a marriage in playing the dutiful role of a "good" husband. The demands of raising kids can bump the marital relationship down the list of priorities. And a wife will naturally focus most of her attention on the kids and playing Parental Olympics with the other moms, to the point a husband becomes just another annoyance.

Been there. I always struggled internally with enslaving myself in the daddy role. The pull of freedom and nature was always there.

A comment on TRP from HumanSockPuppet caught my attention the other day... "Men are evolved to interact with the world - to carve their survival out of the raw wilderness through strength, ingenuity, and adaptability - and women are evolved to interact with men - to cunningly carve off a portion of the earnings of whatever man she can attach herself to.

"So in nature's arena, men are strong and women are weak. But change the setting and you change the scale.

"In the arena of "civilized politics," where strength matters less than cunning, suddenly the apparent strength of the sexes changes.

"Women don't have to be strong, or fast, or creative, or adaptable to be successful in the genetic game. They need only be attractive and persuasive."

This really resonated for me.

Feminine energy searches for love and wants to be trapped, contained and kept safe. Masculine energy is the sexual threat that seeks freedom and wants to feel the bliss of pushing limits and living life on the edge.

We lose masculine energy when we wander too far from nature.

A man in his element is connected to the natural world. He seeks mastery over the wilderness. Our consumer-driven culture has built a matrix catering to the whims of women. And within this realm, a man is at his weakest. Especially when he voluntarily joins in the endless game of catering to women.

What are you doing to return to nature? I've been skiing my ass off this winter - 3 to 4 days a week. Loving it. Plenty of solitude. Plenty of buddy time. Plenty of approving looks from snow bunnies... And plenty of wifey sex when I return home.
