Our dream had been to have a large family. She was going to take care of our children while I supported the family. Up until the middle of last year she was working at a location that paid her fairly well but set unrealistic goals. She was eventually laid off and after that we got more serious about having children, however after enough doctor visits we found out I was the one with fertility issues.
Now we're choosing to do IVF cycles with ICSI and PGS testing, and hoping one of these embryos turns out alright. The problem is it's costly and our insurance will only cover us for another cycle or two. If that doesn't go well, then no biological children for me...
To complicate things more we have one car and live with my parents while trying to pay off my student loans. So if she were to get a job, we'd most likely need a second car, and then that job might only cover the cost of the car and car insurance. I'm paid pretty well at the moment, but she only managed to ever make half of what I make now, which doesn't exactly incentivize her to find work. To add to that, she also has random IVF check appointments each cycle that adds up to at least five days every other month.
I'm not sure what to do from here. She seems perfectly happy staying at home and going to her random IVF appointments, but I'm over here basically drowning in financial pressures to have biological children. She also showed little hesitation to the idea of taking donor sperm, but is still up for another few cycles before then. I don't know whether to be insulted or feel thankful.
