My mom is a textbook paper hoarder and exhibits most of the symptoms associated with the hoarding mental disorder. Though she's anxiety-prone and seems to subsists on covert contracts alongside food, water, and air, she's a kind-hearted and well-intentioned individual.

I've learned to deal with her shit over the years to the point where it no longer phases or surprises me and I have no delusions that I'm going to fix her without forced cognitive behavioral therapy (no savior complex). I strive to have an adult relationship with her and involve her in the lives of my children. Though more often than not it's a chore to maintain the relationship and all its facets.

In light of the RP tenant about seeking relationships that add value to your life and shutting out those that don't, what are suggested courses of action?
