Wife against guns in the house

Wife is against guns. She is against them even if they are locked in the safe. If I buy a gun, I'm risking divorce. Unfortunately, I'm a bread winner, and the divorce will cost us all dearly. Like shooting myself in the foot. What are my options?

Well first of all, why do you fucking care if she "approves" it or not?

I'll preface this with the fact that I am an avid firearm owner. Not just one, but many. Like if I die, my brothers first job is to secure the collection.

I once dated a girl who was adamant she wouldn't be with a guy who owned guns. We had been out to dinner, fucked and were lounging around my apartment in post coital bliss talking and somehow it came up and she announces this. In my single days I kept a gun in the nightstand, so I reached over and opened the drawer. I laughed at her and said "Too late." The relationship ended but not for that reason.

She doesn't want a gun in the house with you. But I bet money just like she'd suck Brad Pitt's dick, she'd be cool with Brad Pitt's gun.

So how do you make an anti-gun person a gun person? Take them shooting. Demonstrate competency and understanding and show them it is a tool like others that can be used for good or bad. Your wife has been corrupted by misinformation, it's your job as an enthusiast to give her the facts and as her husband to lead her to where you want her to go.

So how do you fix this? Start going to the range. Take lessons in safety, pistol competency, rifle competency and any other they offer. My state has a hunters safety course (which coincidentally qualifies you for a FL CCW permit). It's a very low fee, and they provide a shotgun during the test to prove competency.

So meanwhile when you start doing this your wife will question your motives. You push through that shit and tell her, "Babe it's a hobby I find interesting." Don't try to explain it to her, don't try to justify it, don't DEER. Just do. She will question why you are doing it, directly disobeying her order, so use your best WISNIFG and push through it.

Me, I go to the range 2-3 times a month. My wife doesn't even ask questions, it's something she expects from me, it's common place. My oldest gets his first rifle next birthday and he can recite the 4 rules of gun safety by heart. My wife has told me she wants "all of our kids competent with firearms, even [Daughter]" I never pushed my agenda, all I did was demonstrate I knew what I was doing and I wasn't swayed by outside opinion.

Lead her, and she may follow. You're not there yet.

I'm in a similar situation, different problem. I want to live in a more rural area. My wife likes the city. Moving to a rural area would mean divorce. Maybe some day I'll be red pill enough to lead my wife to the country. For now, I enjoy the trappings of city life and unlimited access to my kid. It's not worth the cost of divorce and, really, the city can be a lot of fun. I asked myself "is this the hill I'm willing to die on?"

Apparently your wife is tough enough to stake a hard boundary on the gun issue. Learn from her.

Statistically, someone with a gun in the house is more likely to kill their spouse, or have children accidentally shoot themselves.

You are here, so you are likely a drunk captain whiny beta bitch filled with impotent rage, if I were your partner I wouldn't want you having a gun either.

Have you shown complete mastery and responsibility over your life and emotions for years without fail? If not, maybe hold off on acquiring "the great equalizer" until you can prove that you're a man, and that's just what men like you do, own guns.

Being a lifelong gun owner from liberal circles, and assuming you are a responsible person, I would start with an heirloom if possible. Get one of dad's or grandpa's or uncle's wood-stock longguns and put it in a closet. It's a family heirloom, you have good memories with it, it is your turn to hold on to it for the next generation. Don't even buy any ammo, don't make a big deal out of owning it, maybe she'll never even notice. After that buy another longgun and go from there.

Your wife and I are both worried you have little-man, short-dick syndrome and you want to buy an AR or polymer handgun to wave around to prove that you are a REAL MAN DAMNIT! Prove us wrong.

You can get a gun or not get a gun. Do you really think being a bread winner automatically qualifies you to be a gun owner?

Personally, I think if you have kids in the house the wife should have some say over this issue. There are well characterized arguments on both sides.

If not, then I don't think the wife has a horse in this race. I would get a safe, bolt it to the floor, and just not tell her so she doesn't have to worry.

I had a similar issue with my wife. I have quite a temper and she always said she was afraid I would shoot her during one of my freak outs. I assured her if I was ever going to kill her I would use my black belt in karate to choke her out instead of shooting her. Problem solved :)

I cant tell you how to change her, but you are 100% in the right to want to own a gun/guns and start shooting. We have 3 kids in middle/high school and I never sleep without a gun on my nightstand. I am the protector, God expects it from me, and my wife does also.

Take her to a nice high-end indoor range and go through a firearm safety class, then start off shooting small caliber handguns. Get a 1 year NRA membership and start desensitizing her to their material. Talk to the guys at the range about the situation, I'm sure they have helped people get past this issue before. Its lunacy out there, and you need to tell her you are not going to allow yourself or her to be a victim (or your kids if you have any). Eventually get your CCW permit (if you live in a state that allows that).

If my wife told me today I need to ditch my guns or she is gone I would call her on it and let her leave. Not because I value my guns over her, but I do value my safety and my ability to provide that safety to anyone under my roof. I don't know what argument she is giving you, but there is not a single one that you cannot shred to pieces based on principal.

I am kinda wondering what else in your life is, in your mind anyway, hostage to her latent/unstated threat of divorce (or has she overtly threatened?). Probably a lot more than just "guns in the house". She will own your balls forever if you don't reclaim them.

A buddy of mine is an NRA certified instructor of 20+ years. The range is his closer. Only time it doesn't work is if the girl is riding the cotton pony.
