Good evening everyone,

You girls always have great advice and no problem with tough love so please let me know if I'm making a fool of myself.

Today I discovered some women at work were saying behind my back that I was extremely controlling and jealous, that I made evil looks at women who came close to my fiancé and other similar stuff. Such as my little gestures of appreciation would in truth be me "marking my territory".

My fiancé and I work at the same place, he's a couple of desks away from me. Whenever I go on my break, it's obligatory for me to pass next to his desk so I always say hi, sometimes give him a little kiss on the head and bring him coffee and snacks from the break room.

I also playfully make jokes sometimes when other women approach him (but people who are my friends and I'm comfortable with joking around with them!!) about him being mine. This might be the problem here, keep this in mind.

So some women at work that neither I or my fiancé are friends with have been saying that I'm jealous and drive women away from my fiancé because I show him affection and make jokes which are always welcome and laughed at in my circle of friends.

So my question here besides the mandatory "stop making jokes" are:

  1. What could I do to change that image of me, or should I even care?

  2. Is showing light affection such as a kiss on the head or bringing him snacks and hugging him/massaging his neck making me look back?

I'm kind of at a lost here, I'm not sure how to proceed. My boyfriend told me not to mind them and keep doing what I do. But this made me think that maybe I'm not coming off as professional too since I'm looking to move up the ladder. My bosses haven't complained though or even given any sign that I was proceeding in an unprofessional way.

So what do you girls have for me? And thank you for anyone who read this and will take time to reply :)
