I have no idea what you're asking so I'm just going to answer as I understand it.

When I'm playing a game with my SO, I don't hold back. I bring my A game, so my SO can either beat me fair and square or admire my skill... usually the former lol.

Haha this answer was perfect! You go girl!

what? I think you're going to have to tell us a story or something....

For us it's things like Pictionary, where you're leading your partner to the answer.

After 17 years we have so much history and inside jokes to weave into drawings or phrases without using the catch words.

That always makes me feel our strong bond.

Edit: word

My hubby and I play board games pretty frequently and it's a great opportunity for flirting and fun. Usually I wear something flirty, we'll grab a snack or drink, and then start playing. I'll flirt with him, pretend to distract him by flashing skin if he's winning, joke with him if he dealt me a good hand, and compliment his skills if he's winning. If I'm winning or getting ahead, I'll playfully tease him and he'll usually come over and grab or tickle me playfully back. I always try my best and never let him win because that's disrespectful. That being said, I'm not focused on winning but on having fun together.

It's also fun to play cooperative games and be a team and then you can compliment each other and focus on being an awesome team. When you win you can high-five and give other physical affirmations. I also look at it as an opportunity to practice following. For example, in video games, I'll let him go first and ask him what he wants me to do as we make a plan to defeat a level. It lets him take the lead and shows that I respect him and am willing to follow his instructions.

This is wonderful! And I think you make some good points about being respectful! My husband and I used to play quite a few games together as well but the last 6 months or so it has kind of diminished and I'm looking to bring it back. Do you have any suggestions as to which games were your favorite to play? (Speaking more along the lines of a board game rather than video games)

[–]Jayms1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

My husband and I love board games! Some of our favorites are:

Carcassonne

Ticket to Ride

Race for the Galaxy

Pandemic (great cooperative game)

Dominion (card game)

If you like card games, I think Dominion is great because it's just cards which makes for an easy setup, but there are so many different groups of cards to choose from which makes for lots of variety.

My hubby and I also used to play a ton when we were first dating. It diminished the busier we got and I got lazy and started preferring video games or the apps for the board games but playing on phones or tablet.

When I discovered RPW I knew one way of showing love for my husband was to start playing again since he had mentioned how I never wanted to play anymore. Now I have a reminder set on my phone because it's easy for me to get caught up in other stuff and forget. So when it pops up, I'll suggest playing a game. Then I'll snooze the reminder for a week later. If it's not a good time, then I'll snooze it until the next day so I don't forget.

I really like the reminder idea! Our lives are getting busier and busier as well and its just hard to find the time, so maybe this'll help! thanks!

Very interesting question by the way.

Are you working on a project of some sort?

[–]oohlaloveshop[S] 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I enjoy getting new ideas and insights from a large group of people. I think that's one of the best things about reddit.

Really don't know what you're looking for here. I don't consider my relationship a game, and I don't play games with it. We have intimacy because we love each other and we have a deep appreciation for each other. Our intimacy can't be a competition because we're both extremely competitive people and that would just backfire.

I'm sorry that this is how that question came across to you, however this is not what I meant at all. I was speaking in regards to having an at home date night and playing a game similar to a couples board game. Having fun and acting giddy with someone you love can spark intimate emotions that sometimes can be hard to express over long periods of time. Thank you for your input I'm glad your happy in how your relationship functions.

It's hard to know what you meant when you provided nothing other than a question with no information behind it.

We ask that those who come for advice answer these questions so we better understand your specific situation. It's on the sidebar.
