How do y'all manage?

We have a large apartment. My SO deals with the bathroom heavy cleaning because I have a bad back and leaning over he tub is a recipe for disaster, but I try to keep up with:

  • bathroom counters

  • floors (sweeping, swiffering, vacuuming)

  • kitchen counters

  • hand washing dishes

  • meal prepping and day to day cooking

  • general dusting

  • laundry (my SO and I go to the laundry mat together very often though and then hang dry clothes at home and then folding and putting them away when they're dry a day or two later)

  • filing bills, mail, etc

  • putting away clutter

  • organizing and unpacking from our move a few months ago

  • trash and recycling

We've automated as much as possible, mostly in the grocery and food prep areas: ordering groceries online, splurging for slightly more convenient food or freezer backups for when there's no time to cook, doing dishes as I use them, doing a two minute chore while I'm in that room for something else, etc. I've scoured himemaking, organizing, etc blogs but nothing seems to fit our lifestyle or limitations.

It just still feels like there's not enough time on the day to do all this and do it well by the time I get home.

Some of this is caused by managing a thyroid/gut disorder which leaves me somewhat malnourished and makes me prone to exhaustion, but I keep feeling like a lot of this is me: if I was just more organized, less lazy, had a better routine, etc.

I am somewhat new to managing a household, and I probably let things sneak up on me and turn into bigger jobs than they have to be. Some of this is also wanting to focus on my SO because my SO gets home later than I do and we don't have much time together during the week.

Any suggestions? From managing FT work to challenging my expectations to cleaning routine help and suggestions, please! I'm feeling overwhelmed and overworked and the stress is getting harder and harder to manage and I don't want that to seep into my interactions with my SO.
